ALEX NERI started his career just thirteen, playing music in his father’s club. Afterwards, he gained respect througout Tuscany and , in the early 90’s, established his name in Penelope Meanwhile, he produced his own records with Marco Baroni. Many productions born, such as Korda, “Move your body” and the project Kamasutra which soon became an acclaimed reality. Kamasutra is not only a pure source of house and rare grooves, but an experimentation and evolution of a very innovative style, out of any scheme, which greatly combines different sounds, from funk through hip hop, new wave, elettronic to house. The tracks that better explains the spirit of Kamasutra are “Running Away”, “Nightwalk” and “Love me or leave me” feat. Kym Mazelle. Follows “Alex Neri – Planet Funk” vol° 1, where the typicals of Kamasutra reaches their highest expression. The productions cross each other with remixes for artists like Club Freaks, Annette Taylor, Future Forces, Instant Funk and Jestofunk.

The project “Storm in my soul” (Kamasutra), for major Sony, goes directly to n°1 in the Italian, German and Uk club charts, placing them in the eye of the world dance scene. In december ’98 Alex and Marco realize the hit “Happiness” featuring Jocelyn Brown, which gains n° 1 in the dj’s club chart and n°2 in Record Mirror Club Chart. “Happiness” was also long played by Radio One and selected by Dave Pearce as Drivetime record of the week. It reached n°4 in the Tokyo –top 100 and was choosed by Larry Flick (Billboard) as “One of the best spring’s hit”. Meanwhile they realised “Planet Funk vol. 2”, very acclaimed in the clubs.

Two new hits “Burning” featuring Corinna Joseph, and “Where is the love”, licensed by Warner, greatly appreciated by Capital Radio, Galaxy, Kiss and Atlantic (UK). It’s time for new enthusiastic cooperations, such as the production of the new Alan Sorrenti’s album “Miami” with the brand new “Kioko Mon Amour”, and the remixes “Lies” for Karen Ramirez and “Kalimba de Luna” for Toni Esposito. In ‘99 came the friendship with Gigi Canu and Sergio Della Monica, from which born Planet Funk. The band started with “Chase The Sun”, one the top 20 European hits of 2001 (n° 5 in UK). Then went on with “Inside All The People”, an eclectic track with the superior voice of amazing Dan Black, leading vocal also for “The Switch” and “Who Said”, last hit. Many musicians partecipate to their first cd , “Non Zero Sumness ”, a perfect resume of work and efforts done during these last two years, acclaimed by critical and public. This is much more than a cd, it’s the pure expression of Planet Funk philosophy, live and relish life the more you can, enjoy all feelings and emotions, talk, listen and love people, things, nature, the all life. The first live set of Planet Funk was in Ibiza for MTV in August 2001, followed by the concerts of 2002, such as the Heineken Jammin’ Festival (June ’02), Neapolis Festival (July ’02) and the Tim Tour (July/August ’02).

During summer 2002, Planet Funk have also partecipated to all Festivalbar’s Show and have been invited to several TV shows, in the main Italian channels. After the great concerts held at Rolling Stone – Milan last 4th of november(www. Clearchannel.it), and the 28th of November at Magazzini Generali for Radio Rai Concert, 2002 ends for Planet Funk with two last consacrations, the nomination received for MTV European Music Awards, cathegory Best Italian Act, (Barcelona the 14th of November, www.mtv.it/ema) and the three awards received at IMA (Italian Music Awards, www.italianmusicawards.it), the 2nd of December, in the cathegories “Best Group”, “Best Dance Act”, “Best New Act”. Also, they received the Golden Records, for selling over then 50.000 copies.

2003 started with the U.K. promotion of the album, with a live concert for BBC 1 in London the first of April. Meanwhile, they began their Italian Tour, with exiciting live concerts in the best Italian venues. The summer tour ended the 2nd of August in Lecce for MTV night. More live concerts followed, ending with one big live party the 31st of December 2003. Planet Funk’s Australian tour (April 2004) has been a great success, with 5 astonishing live concerts in the main venues of the country. Last acclaimed concert has been in Istanbul (June 2004).

Planet Funk have just finished their new album, "The Illogical Consequence", released last 1st of April. The first single taken from it, "Stop Me", released in February as Coca Cola tv spot’s soundtrack, it’s already an hit.

Alex has also recently built a brand new recording studio in a magnificent location on the river Arno in Florence, where he produces his records and blend his knowledge with cooperations with artists from different culture and background, surrounded by the astonishing frame of fascinating Tuscany. First project of the new label “Tenax Recordings” is the compilation “Nobody’s Perfect” (July 2004, distributed by Self www.self.it), a double cds concept of unreleased and realesed tracks, from Alex Neri and Marco Baroni as well as from other artists. the first two realeses extracted from the compilation, both from Alex and Marco , “Housetrack” and “Club Element”, have been hugely acclaimed from dancefloor and critics. In 2005, Alex released for his label “Aurora” and “F..k me rich”, both produced by Alex Neri with Federico Locchi, one of the most capable producer and djs among the young italians. Meanwhile, Alex Neri with dj producer Stefano Fontana Stylophonic remixed Jovanotti’s hit “Tanto 3”, and realesed this for Tenax Recordings. A triple vinyl “Tenax Crew vol. 1” contains 3 vinyls with the new artists of the label. In August 2005 Tenax rec release the production of three new artists from Naples, Audiovelox and Roy.

2006 starts with some miminal projects, "When less is better EP" from Luca Bacchetti, “Zero EP” from Fabio Della Torre and Ennio Colaci, and “Ping Pong”, from Frankie Watch and Federico Locchi, and goes on with a lot of releases, among these, the 15th is an Alex e.p. “Twothousandandsix”, six tracks of pure Alex Neri’s sounds!! Alex and Planet Funk are now finishing their third album, which will be realesed in November.

Alex’s talent has taken him around Europe’s best venues as well as all over the world, while being resident dj every Saturday at Tenax, Florence, for Nobody’s Perfect house night, certainly one of the hottest and innovative spot for Italian house clubbers.
